70.97% of Us Are Using Firefox

And by "us," I mean the designers, developers, and the tech-savvy folks who have visited this blog in the last 30 days. We had 120,000 unique visitors in the last 30 days, thanks in part to Digg, Reddit, and StumpleUpon. So with this large set of data (and being the stat junkie that I am), I thought it might be interesting to post some of the browsing stats of our readers. Just remember that these are mostly web workers (although it'd be nice to think that the general populace is trending this way as well).

None of these statistics surprise me. A lot of users that visit my site are not web developers and it's still like a 50/50 split between IE and Firefox.

Interestingly, its developers primarily that are visiting your site. By comparison, its the total opposite who visit my site (people looking for a website built for their business etc): Stat breakdown for Nov:

1. Internet Explorer / Windows 56.71%
2. Firefox / Windows 17.79%
3. Firefox / Macintosh 9.73%
4. Safari / Macintosh 8.72%
5. Opera / Windows 5.03%

Always fun to know which percentile one ends up in! I'm not in the top of browsers, OS, or resolution size, heh.

Never surprising to see Firefox at the top. I'm still amazed at people using IE though.

Can you publish the IP addresses of the 12.19% that used Internet Explorer so we can hunt down these so-called developers and 'out' them publicly for their absolute failure to abstain from IE?

It's one thing to have all IE installed so you can cross-browser test. It's quite another to use it to surf to sites like this one.

Personally, I think web development/design sites (like this) should purposely NOT fix their sites for IE. Leave them broken. Punish the wicked. Lift up the oppressed. Keep out the masses.

Come on, it's almost 2008. When are some of these so-called 'webguys' going to convert to a standards-based browser? Ugh... they are like Al-Queda... down, but never quite all dead.

I have a 62% Firefox user base with IE coming in at 28% (almost half of those on IE6). So, I still have to design for a crappy browser. Maybe I should write a post every week that promotes Firefox, and those IE numbers will drop.

It's not that surprising that Mozilla Firefox topped the Web Browser arena (in your case).

It's very unlikely for web designers and developers to use Internet Explorer.

Another thing that could have contributed to Mozilla Firefox is your StumbleUpon toolbar. StumbleUpon has an Internet Explorer version but most people prefer using it with Firefox.

On the operating system side, I'm surprised with Apple Mac's statistics. Here, in the Philippines, we only have a few Mac users. They are mostly found on printing press and design stations.

Resolution side: Uhm, again it's not surprising. I've been trying to switch to a higher resolution but my old CRT monitor restricts me. I'm currently dwelling with 1152x864, which is okay.

JavaScript, 2.93%? Hahaha. I don't believe that the users in this group doesn't have a JS-capable browser. They could have disabled it.

Of the 12.19% IE users, how many of those are using IE7 and how many on older versions?

I use fire fox for most of my Internet activities. There are plenty of add-ons Nice product.
